• Blackwell Lake Stop: Approaching the Blackwell Lake offers a breather, allowing time to savor the stunning panorama. But resuming the journey from here brings steep climbs, demanding strong legwork.
• Descent: Post the ascent, a sharp descent towards Lick Creek Rd is the next adventure, renowned for its 'moon dust' and potential hidden obstacles.

Getting There

From McCall, the journey starts between Payette Lake and Little Payette Lake on a dirt road. The trailhead is accessible off East Side Drive. Recognizable signs include crossing a creek where a former bridge once stood. Following the climb, the trail transforms into a single-track, leading to the Crestline trail intersection. Turning right leads to Blackwell Lake, followed by an ascent towards the ridgeline. Adhering right at the meadow junction eventually brings the descent back to the trailhead.
