Detailed Trail Description

Experience both short brush and high trees with these trails. There are two different gates to get to these trails on the west side of the Hurkey Creek Park Campsite. For restroom access, park near campsite #130. Of course, there are other locations you can start off at as well.

This trail follows alongside the HWY 74, but don’t worry, you won’t be right next to the cars. You’ll hear them in the distance, but keeping to the left will keep you out of the way from the road.

While riding this trail, you will pass by a beautiful meadow but there has been a lot of erosion to the trail over the years. This adds an extra challenge as it can be difficult to see where you are.

Additional Trail Features

To park near the #130 campsite, there is a $5 day fee. This is worth it as it will give you a clear starting and ending point along with restroom access. There aren’t any shuttles as this trail is very short and would be unrideable for shuttles.

With the Keen Camp Climb trail, there are plenty of obstacles. First, this is a singletrack trail with narrow paths and lots of turns. You will come across lots of rocky areas and rutted areas. You will want to be warmed up before heading on this trail as this climb can be tough on your legs.

It’s a beautiful ride, but be aware of the challenging twists and turns you will face.

Sights of Interest, landscapes, views

Even though there has been erosion throughout the years and there are spots that are difficult to ride through, the sights you will see on this trail will make it worth it. You will ride through brush and tall trees, while also passing through a gorgeous meadow. Experience rich reds and deep greens when you ride in the summer.

Recommendations/precautions

We recommend using a full-suspension bike to have the best experience on this trail. These bikes take on the challenges of the trails and make riding a lot easier to do.

Even though this trail is only 2.8 km long, we always recommend bringing extra water and sunscreen.

If you see another cyclist on the path, give them plenty of space with the narrow trail and always make sure to slow down.

Conclusion

This trail is not for beginners but for advanced cyclists, this track can prove to be very fun. With the difficulty and challenges that this trail brings, always be aware of your surroundings and maintain an appropriate speed. By following our recommendations, you will be satisfied with your skiing in this place.
