Detailed Trail Description

There aren't many trails that allow e-bikes, but Captain Jack’s is the exception to this rule. This single-track trail works great for people who want to bring their dogs along, write an e-bike, or prefer manual bike riding. So, you'll have complete control over your biking experience.

If you want to lengthen your trail ride, you're free to take this loop as many times as you want. So, if you feel like you finished the trail too early, ride it another time to get plenty of exercise. You'll feel the burn the more you ride.

There is a clear parking lot for this trail, and when you finish the loop, it'll lead you right back to your car. So, you don't have to focus too hard on directions because this loop is easy to follow. Stay on the main trail, and you won't have any issues.

Additional Trail Features

One of the main reasons we don't recommend this trail for beginning bike riders is that plenty of obstacles are in the way. So keep your eyes out for the following situations to keep yourself safe.

  • Motorcycles
  • Dog walkers
  • Pedestrians
  • Loose rocks
  • Sharp turns
  • Jumps

Many technical skills are required for bike riders to enjoy this path. If you don't have any previous experience riding a bike, you'll want to start with something easier. There aren't many paved sections of this path, so be mindful of your surroundings at all times.

Sightseeing

One of this path’s biggest attractions is the plenty of chances to get a beautiful view. On this ride, you will follow tunnels, rocky canyons, and other beautiful scenery. Feel free to dismount your bike and pull to the side for pictures whenever you're comfortable. Many people enjoy taking pictures of tunnels and canyons.

In addition, there are plenty of trees in the area, so the natural scenery never goes away. You're even free to ride your bike at night when you visit this trail. However, we recommend only doing so if you have a headlight on your bike so that you can see potential obstacles easier. Riding in the pitch black can get difficult.

Conclusion

Captain Jack’s is a fun and fast-paced trail that people will enjoy if they're at least intermediate-level experience on a bike. However, beginners will struggle with all of the obstacles and the faster pace this ride offers. Most of this ride slopes downhill on a dirt path which can be difficult to control your bike on. Keep these things in mind if you want to bring friends along on the ride.
