Detailed Trail Description

The Cannonsburg Ski Area Trailhead is located on Egypt Valley Road, where cyclists can begin their ride. The trail is a singletrack configuration, with switchbacks and bermed corners that offer an exciting challenge for intermediate riders.

The trail features downhills sections, banked turns, and hill climbs. This will keep any cyclist on their toes. The trail concludes on the same Egypt Valley Road, where riders can return to the starting point.

Additional Trail Features

In addition to the main trail, the Cannonsburg Ski Area has a Skills Park Area. There are black diamond drops here, including step-ups, doubles, and gap jumps.

For those looking for a more extended ride, an additional eight-mile trail is available through the Egypt Valley Road South to 5 Mile Road East.

Extra Fees

Unlike other destinations that nickel and dime you with additional fees, Cannonsburg Ski Area offers a fantastic mountain biking experience without any extra charges. So, put your wallet away, and focus on the ride ahead!

But hold your horses, or should we say, bikes. Before you get too excited, let's talk about something essential. While Cannonsburg Ski Area is open for mountain biking all year round, during the ski season, the ski area parking lot is closed to bikers.

Don't worry. It's for your own safety. The trail maintainers don't want any mountain bikers crashing into skiers! So, please keep this in mind and find an alternative place to park your car or bike before hitting the trail.

Obstacles

The trail at Cannonsburg Ski Area features some challenging obstacles. With banked turns, heart-racing downhill sections, and grueling hill climbs, this trail will push you to your limits. It's like a real-life video game, with obstacles that keep you on the edge of your seat, wondering what's coming next. So, get ready to sweat, push yourself, and come out on the other side with a newfound sense of accomplishment.

Sights of Interest, Landscapes, and Views

Cyclists can enjoy stunning views of western Michigan while riding the Cannonsburg Ski Area trail. The trail runs through a forested area, offering a peaceful and tranquil ride. However, there are no national parks or significant sights of interest along the trail.

Recommendations/Precautions

Cyclists should note that the trail is closed for Picnic Pops. Again, the ski area parking lot is closed to bikers during the ski season. It is also recommended that riders bring plenty of water and snacks, as drinking water and restrooms are not available along the trail. Furthermore, while the trail is intermediate, it is still challenging. So riders should be prepared for a physically demanding ride.

Conclusion

The Cannonsburg Ski Area trail is an excellent destination for intermediate riders looking for a challenging yet exciting ride. With its high sand content, the trail dries quickly after rain, making it a great option even during wet weather.

Additionally, the Skills Park Area and additional eight miles of trail offer riders the chance to push their skills further. While the lack of amenities may be a drawback, the stunning views and challenging obstacles make the Cannonsburg Ski Area trail a must-ride for outdoor enthusiasts in western Michigan.
