What is the difference between Bike and Roll and Capital Bikeshare?
For Immediate Release: April 12, 2011

WASHINGTON, DC – Washington's new bike share system, Capital Bikshare (CaBi), is a fantastic addition to our city. The program is an initiative of DDOT to get more cyclists on the road and provide another facet of our public transportation system. There has been some confusion amongst some of our customers who are curious about the difference between Bike and Roll and Capital Bikeshare.

The most prominent difference is that CaBi is geared towards DC residents and commuters who use their bikes daily for short periods of time. Members pay a membership fee, and are charged a usage fee if they keep the bike for more than 30 minutes. Bike and Roll prices are intended to offer the best price for full day rentals. In addition to offering tours, Bike and Roll includes a helmet, lock, flat kit and map with every rental

Bike and Roll: Explore Washington DC with the family on wheels

April 2013 By: Christina, Cool Mom Picks

"Washington D.C.'s Bike and Roll offers bike rentals (as well as jogging stroller rentals) for folks visiting the nation's capital. But their guided bike tours are definitely worth checking out if you want to cover a lot of ground, especially with kids who start dragging after too much time on their feet.

For us, Bike and Roll's Monuments Bike Tour was perfect. With only four miles of biking, we saw all the major monuments, including Lincoln, Jefferson, Martin Luther King, Jr., the war monuments, and other notable sights. Our guide was knowledgable, friendly, and very patient with our group of tourists (ranging in age from my 8-year-old son to a considerably senior grandma)."

Like Day & Night

March 2013, By: Sam Polcer, Airtran Magazine

"The statues, monuments and museums are even more majestic when they're lit up at night. But yikes, it sure takes a while to see them all by foot. Bike and Roll's Capital Sites@Nite Bike Tour outfits riders with bikes, reflective vests, lights and tips on where to party in DC after dark."

24 Hours in Washington DC

February 2013 By: Clayton Truscott

"One of the best ways to see the city is from the seat of bicycle. Bike And Roll offer a series of 2,5 and 3 hour tours through various routes, including the National Mall, the Mount Vernon Trail that takes you under the Cherry Blossoms, which line the Potomac River, and a tour of the Capital sites by day or night. If you're on a tight time budget, this is a great (and healthy) way to acquaint yourself with the city and pick out a few standout places to come back to. There is also the option of biking the city without a tour guide, which is cool for people who enjoy touring without a plan."

The Gathering's flying start

January 6, 2013 By: Padraic McKiernan

"You could walk it, but for a comprehensive access-all-areas tour of this Disneyland for grown-ups, a visit to the people at Bike and Roll at bikethesites.com comes highly recommended.

Our incredibly informative guide Tujon took us on a magical jaunt that will live long in the memory. Highlights are too many to list but included the fascinating FDR memorial while the experience of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and Second World War Memorial offered a poignant and respectful reminder that democracy comes at a price."

Easy DC

February 2013 (pg. 16-17) By: Eoghan Corry

"The tour, led by Tujon Gallagher of Bike and Roll ("it's as easy as riding a bike," he reassures us) is magnificient beyond expectations, his stories informed and entertaining as he talks us through the politics of commemoration, of which the Mall in Washington is a case study."

Rolling Around D.C.

November 24, 2012 (by  Peggy Sijswerda)

""This is fun!" says Maria, my Dutch friend as she zips around in circles on her Segway...

A friend suggested we try a Segway tour, so here we are practicing maneuvers as we navigate our cool "personal transporters" on a safe side street near the Old Post Office...Washington is the perfect place to use Segways, too, because, as you probably know, walking from one end of the National Mall to the other can take forever, especially on a hot day.

... Unlike the poor tourists who walk along on their own two feet, we have technology on our side and whiz along at a whopping 16 miles an hour. Slight incline? No problem. We just lean forward and ride uphill to the Capitol, where we stop to take photos and admire the view....The best part is you'll feel like a kid again as you zip along."

Get your sports fix in Washington,D.C.

Sports-themed weekend shows another side of D.C

November 18, 2012 (By Bryen Dunn)

"Fall is the time of year when die-hard sports fans can rejoice in the fact there's a smorgasbord of opportunity to get in on a whole load of action, with baseball, football, basketball, soccer and usually hockey, all happening at the same time.

My ...D.C. sports-themed weekend adventure was to catch a season-ending game of the Washington Nationals baseball team..., Washington Redskins at this season opener ...and D.C. United... as the home team was cheered onto victory.

Other things of interest to sports fans include Bike and Roll, offering rentals and guided tours of key sites... With more than 230,000-acres of parkland and trails in the DC region, there's also plenty of nature to explore. See bikethesites.com ..."
