Ah, and it feels like only yesterday we were writing about upcoming September events...

We're only a few days shy of October, and the DC area is absolutely brimming with wonderful fall activities for you to take part in! Here we've hand picked our top 5 (or T5 as we like to say) favorite events to check out next month:

Top 5 October

1. WalkingTown DC

Actually kicking off Monday September 30th, this week long event (sponsored by Cultural Tourism DC) offers free guided walking tours of the district. Reserve your spots now before they fill up!

2. Taste of DC

A popular annual culinary festival, Taste of DC offers tastings from 50+ DC restaurants and a Beer Garden with over 30 brews. Come hungry, leave happy.

3. Bike and Roll's Bike Sale

We'll be hosting our second bike sale of the season on October 20th from 11:00am-3:00pm. This time around, we're offering several Road and Performance bikes, as well as comfort Hybrid Adult bikes and select Kids' equipment. Come early and ride off into the horizon with your new set of wheels!

4. Washington International Horse Show

A premiere equestrian event, the Washington International Horse Show will run from October 22-27 at the Verizon Center. The show will feature two performances daily (except Sunday) with over 600 horses and riders competing for top prizes.

5. Halloween in DC

From Fright Fest at Six Flags to Boo at the Zoo, DC is the perfect destination for all things All Hallows' Eve! Take your pick from corn mazes, pumpkin patches, ghost tours, haunted houses, zombie runs, and Trick or Treat outings-- we've got it all.

Newly expanded to include ten days of carbon-free fun, Cultural Tourism DC’s BikingTown DC and WalkingTown DC will offer over 100 tours to visitors and locals alike. Bike and Roll bike tours are of course included on the list!  We will offer a handful of free bike tours between September 23 and October 2, as well as discounted rentals for additional Cultural Tourism DC bike tours that will be offered throughout the week. All tours are free, though some require reservations.

To reserve your spot on a free Bike and Roll tour, keep an eye on the CTDC website where a full list of tours will be available in August 2011. Bikingtown and WalkingTown tours will guide groups through all eight wards on the city, highlighting DC’s unique arts, culture and heritage. In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, historic Civil War tours of DC will also be offered.
